Matt McCulloch is an educator of fitness and movement professionals, co-founder of Kinected and co-director of the Kane School as well as co-director of the FAMI and FAMI – Level Two workshops. A classically trained dancer, he began studying Pilates over 20 years ago to rehabilitate a knee injury following 4 separate knee surgeries. He is trained in both original and contemporary approaches and over the past 15 years, he has educated hundreds of fitness professionals. Matt’s passion for movement and pilates has been the resource for creating many workshops and teaching tools for movement professionals. These workshops emphasize proper biomechanics and creative progressions and modifications based on the original Pilates repertoire. The wide range of workshops he has created are designed to focus on various injuries, joint replacements, additional orthopedic injuries and special populations such as the young athlete with developmental issues as well as neurological issues.

Matt’s passion for education extends beyond the fitness professional to the clinical world investing in his mission to bridge the gap of movement and medicine. He lectures to clinical professionals, frequently leading workshops fusing movement and clinical information on the rehabilitative benefits of Pilates and alternative therapeutic movement to DPT students at Hunter College and physiatry residents at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, and frequently presents at Pilates on Tour. Additionally, Matt incorporates pilates as well as many different modalities such as GYROKINESIS® & GYROTONIC® , CORE ALIGN and BODHI suspension straps and yoga. He is committed to utilizing several different modalities in his sessions with clients not only to extend their body education beyond Pilates, but because he also believes this approach creates more balance in their body and raises their BODY IQ.

Carrie McCulloch, a graduate of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is a co-founder of Kinected, teacher, author, and educator of health and movement professionals. With a background in both movement & medicine, she bridges gaps between these two worlds for patients and students alike. Her integrative pursuits began in medical school when she co-founded the FAMI Workshop, an internationally-renowned anatomy immersion course for movement professionals held in a medical school setting. As a medical student, Dr. McCulloch also created living anatoME, an award-winning program that teaches anatomy to medical students through Pilates and yoga. Dr. McCulloch holds a BS in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and writes frequently on the topics of anatomy, wellness, and women’s health and she has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Pilates Style, and Well+Good. Becoming a mom to two energetic boys ignited her passion for prenatal health and she recently cofounded Nestfit, an online studio for pre- and postnatal fitness featuring a collective of instructors and women’s health experts.

Kelly Kane is a world-renowned Pilates educator with over 15 years of experience. Seeking to incorporate an understanding of the human body into the classical Pilates genre, Kelly opened the Kane School in 1999 as a holistic body college founded on anatomical knowledge to improve strength and stability. She initially studied with Romana Kryzanowska and Hila Paldi and obtained her certification through the Pilates Institute in Santa Fe, N.M. Kelly completed two years of the BodyMind Centering teacher-training program and received her massage certification at the Florida School of Massage. Her manual therapy repertoire includes Structural Integration, CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation, and she cultivated her exceptional manual perception skills at the New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry. Since 1993, Kelly has studied Iyengar yoga as well as anatomy and postural assessment with neuro-muscular movement specialist Irene Dowd, and her expertise also includes GYROTONIC® and Continuum Movement.

Elliot, PT, OCS, CFMT, FAAOMPT, has more than 15 years of experience in rehabilitation and functional enhancement. After spending his early career frustrated by inconsistent success and limitations he found with traditional Physical Therapy approaches, Elliot dedicated himself to ongoing studying with the goal of trying to provide elite level care to every patient who walked in the door, no matter what the diagnosis or condition.

He then began taking courses focused on the Functional Manual Therapy® (FMT) approach specializing in whole body care, integrating manual therapy, exercise, and body awareness training. Over the next 10+ years he continued his FMT studies and became one of only 25 therapists in the country to have completed fellowship level training in this area. After spending multiple years teaching in NYU’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Elliot now dedicates himself full time to patient care and clinical education in the FMT approach.

In continuing with his belief in lifelong learning, Elliot continues to take classes in Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Mobilization, Neuromeningeal Manipulation and keeps up with the latest physical therapy and medical research.

Bailey Anglin discovered Pilates early in her career as a professional dancer. She pursued her Pilates training and education through the Kane School and has been teaching at Westside Dance PT since 2018. Pilates has given Bailey the opportunity to focus on her passion for functional biomechanics of the human body. Her class will help participants with overall alignment while increasing joint stability, strength, tone, and elongation of muscles. Participants will identify and find ways to release unnecessary tension through the integration of breath, while giving the body the tools to move through space efficiently. Through her invigorating classes, Bailey hopes to help her students release daily stress, heighten senses, and embrace healthy bodies in motion.

Physical Therapist, PT, DPT, CFMT

Alison initially became interested in physical therapy while she was in her first career, architecture. During a five-year journey to overcome low back pain which started with a running injury, she finally began to fully recover with the help of a Manual Physical Therapist. After years of minimal improvement with exercises alone, she experienced first-hand the importance of skilled manual interventions.

While earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2013 from Long Island University, she was introduced to the Functional Manual Therapy® approach, and began working towards mastery of those skills. In August 2016, she achieved the level of Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA), becoming one of only 370 people nationally to have reached this level of training.

In addition to training in Functional Manual Therapy®, Alison has completed continuing education studies in Pelvic Health, Visceral Mobilization, Mulligan Concept, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (Graston Technique), and Nutrition for managing Chronic Pain. Alison brings experience treating not only a variety of orthopedic and sports injuries, but also headaches, tinnitus, pelvic pain, women’s health and bowel and bladder issues.

Jinny also treats backstage as a physical therapist with various Broadway shows, and writes research review articles for the online education platform, The Brookbush Institute. The Functional Manual Therapy® approach resonates strongly with Jinny because of its emphasis on treatment of the entire individual, rather than just an injured body part. Jinny’s goal as a physical therapist is to help her clients achieve their fullest function as quickly as possible, whether you’re somebody who just wants to be able to get out of bed without pain, or somebody who wants to return to high level dancing or sport.

Bennalldra Williams has always been fascinated by how the body works and the way it moves through space. Her belief that bodies are often vehicles of expression led her to the field of dance where she studied, and has had a very exciting career. Recognizing that we are all movers whether trained by dance or by life, brought her to Gyrotonic as a conditioning method. Susan is a small batch producer of specialty baked goods, a certified Alexander Technique (M. AmSAT) and Pilates teacher (The Kane School), a business transformation leader, a road cycler and a student of QiGong. She was meant to move, to dream big, to feel big and to transform how companies and people operate.

She believes that the backbone of a body is similar to the infrastructure for a skyscraper to stand tall and a company’s operating model to scale and flex for business growth and retraction. She reached a point in her life when she could no longer scale; she could not flex.

It took years of searching for answers to unexplainable health challenges that limited her ability to participate in life. She couldn’t do not just the things that gave her the greatest joy, but also the basics like opening a jar, mixing cake batter and holding a pen to write a letter. It was through debilitating injuries, the result of her trying to live her best life on two wheels but in constant pain, that the wheels of my bike could not find up; she could not find up. She decided she’d develop her own recovery program starting with understanding what makes us human, how our bodies are innately designed and the unique experiences we may encounter that hinder or propel our potential to move. Through months of study in anatomy, the Alexander Technique, and Pilates plus real time feedback from elite athletes and kinesiologists, physical therapists and mobility coaches on the practical application, she set out to rebuild herself – from the ground up. She has integrated these learnings into tools and experiences to help others at any stage in their lives to also move more efficiently and with less effort so they can live their best lives doing the things they love.
